Our Vision for

Kaleidoscope Dance

Kaleidoscope Dance Space started as an idea to make some changes in the current model of business in the dance industry.

There are two things specifically that drove our vision:

1) We wanted to create a place where dancers of all levels of talent and experience - especially beginners - feel welcome to come dance with instructors of their choosing without any pressure to “join” or sign contracts.

2) We wanted to create a professional, reliable place where independent dance instructors could come to teach lessons on a high-quality dance floor for reasonable floor use fees.

This vision has evolved and become a reality at our dance studio – Kaleidoscope Dance.

We (Kevin and Trudy Sherman) own the building as well as the business. Trudy is the business and studio manager. She has 40 years of experience working in industry and ran her own consulting company for the last 30 of them. Dancing is an integral part of her life. She started taking lessons when she was six.  Her mother and her aunts also started dancing at a young age. By the time they were teens, they were dancing as professionals right here in Phoenix. Trudy works closely with her staff and colleagues creating a welcoming, quality dance environment with diverse music and movement opportunities at affordable rates.

Kaleidoscope is home to group classes, performance teams, group and personal practices, workshops, private lessons, and dance-related activities. Styles of dance include ballroom, west coast swing, country, line dance, folk dance, dance exercise, and contemporary/lyrical dance. There are also a variety of tai chi classes and several kids classes. For those that are looking for private instruction, Kaleidoscope can either provide or recommend an experienced independent dance instructor appropriate for your skill level.

Kaleidoscope has regular operating hours and calendars for the upcoming month are posted on the website. During operating hours, a staff member is at the studio to check clients in, take calls, answer questions, reserve floor use, and schedule lessons. Studio use outside operating hours is available by appointment.

Our goal is for Kaleidoscope Dance to be the place people think of when they want to dance!!
